Coronis launches its new Quality Assurance Program
Coronis, an Elster Group company, leading global designer and developer of OEM wireless solutions for ultra-low-power (ULP) and long-range sensor monitoring networks, today announced the launch of its new Coronis Quality Assurance Program for its client and partners developments that deploy Coronis Wavenis-enabled platforms.
Most Coronis products are based on Wavenis® wireless technology. Wavenis is a cutting edge wireless connectivity platform that addresses the unique needs for wireless sensor networks with extreme long life time with battery operated modules but also very long operating range. Wavenis is currently deployed in more than 3 million devices worldwide. Currently, the largest Wavenis fixed network in operation covers 100,000 nodes. Wavenis technology features a highly optimized wireless connectivity with secure communications operating in sub-GHz RF license-free bands.
The primary objective of the new Coronis Quality Assurance Program (Coronis QAP) is to first and foremost guarantee the quality of the integration for Coronis Wavenis platforms by our partners and clients. Coronis will not be held liable for any integrators products that do not pass through the Coronis QAP. Integrators can benefit from Coronis guarantee for their products performance, reliability and quality with regards to desired Wavenis platform functionality and characteristics. The Coronis QAP comes with Coronis design skill assistance, expertise in wireless development and product industrialization know-how. End users will have a level of trust and reliability in any product's wireless communications that carry this new Coronis stamp of approval.
Laurent Maleysson, Executive Director of Coronis, explained that this new program benefits all Coronis partners from all the markets we serve.
"The objective of this new program is not to try and just enforce our way of working with our partners and clients, but to create a mutually beneficial process where everyone wins. What we are proposing is a quality certificate to approve the best in class Wavenis-enabled devices. We consider our clients products as an extension of our reputation and this new program enables them to take full advantage of their association with Coronis."
In addition, since June of 2008, the responsibility to manage Wavenis technology has been given to an independent, non-profit, standards body called the Wavenis Open Standard Alliance (Wavenis-OSA). Its mission is to define the Wavenis technology roadmap, drive global adoption and deliver new Wavenis features and capabilities, as determined by member interests and market requirements. It is an all-volunteer, member-driven organization, with participants from around the world. Wavenis-OSA is now driving the Wavenis standardization process.
The Wavenis-OSA also has the mission to develop and administer certification guidelines with regards to Wavenis-enabled devices designed by any member of the Wavenis-OSA. This program is currently in the development stage, but once in place will regulate both the Wavenis self certification and full laboratory product certification process. To be able to seek certification, or even use the Wavenis trademark, an organization must be a member of the Wavenis-OSA. The Coronis QAP is an independent initiative and can be seen as a complementary program to the Wavenis-OSA process.
